Teeth Whitening
Pearly white teeth attract everyone.
Over-the-Counter (OTC) Whitening
Over-the-counter whitening products, like Crest Whitestrips, work fine. They tend to have the lowest concentration of peroxide (the chemicals that whiten your teeth) compared to other options, therefore, the result is least noticeable.
Take-Home Teeth Whitening
Take-home teeth whitening uses whitening gel purchased from the dental office with a custom made tray. Because the peroxide concentration is usually higher than most OTC products and the trays are made to custom fit the individual’s teeth, thus the results tend to be better with less chance of gum irritation from the gel. The procedure can be repeated 2-3 times and the individual has control over the frequency.
In-Office Teeth Whitening
In-office whitening uses the highest peroxide concentration (sometimes up to 40%) and yields the fastest, safest and most noticeable results. The procedure usually takes 1-1.5 hours, during which the whitening process can be repeated 2-3 times within one session as needed. Due to its high peroxide concentration, it also tends to result in most temporary post-whitening teeth sensitivity.
